Jukebox wishes.

Jukebox wishes.

In a white marble room, she made music from the wishes taken from the fountain.

A jukebox in the corner swallowed the coins that diners pulled from the water. Each coin carried a wish, which surfaced between the jukebox buttons as a small shot. She would take it and play the harp.

At the end of the meal, every table tipped a coin and a wish into the fountain. The people just arriving would then take a coin from it.

The shot was brought to her on a silver platter as she finished playing the melody of the last wish.

Some people saw the music as colors floating in the air; others were carried back to a memory by a scent.

There was no food on the tables, and only one server. He brought the shot glass to her and returned it to the kitchen.

After the shot, she was transported into the wish without ever leaving the restaurant. Her hands continued to move as she was absent.

The applause after each wish echoed through the marble walls until silence returned and the next table carried a coin to the machine.
