A new star

A new star

He looked at his own body as it slept, then drifted closer to the window and gazed into the night sky.

He asked a star for a favor and shook the air in front of him.

His mind was crowded with bad ideas. One collided with another, and suddenly there was a traffic jam—a complete standstill.

The star agreed and lent him a hand. His own hand began to glow as he reached inside his head to straighten the blockage.

Pinching the idea between two fingers, he pulled. It stretched, resisting, and he had to tug harder.

Seeing him struggle, the star offered more light. From his glowing hand, the idea began to evaporate until it slipped back to where it had started—and then it was gone.

Guided by the star, he placed his hand over his brain. It glowed softly at his touch.

He thanked the star and shook the air in front of him once more. In return, he gave up a treasured memory.

The star took it and placed it among the others in the sky.
